Windows 10: Windows Media Player 11 only displays folder-names on Smart-TV

I am using Windows Media Player 11.2305.4.0 within Win 11 22H2. Numerous MP4 video-files are stored on my D: HDD. I do not use C: for video I was able to access and view these videos on my smart-TV for several months. BUT - after attempting some fine-tuning, I can no longer access these files on my TV. I have deleted and recreated my Video LIBRARY... but problems continue. All files and sub-folders are visible when using WMP on the PC --- but only the sub-folder names are listed on my TV-screen. Any suggestions?

Window Media Player and Movies & TV arent working with internet conection

I realize that WMP and M& TV app is not working on your PC. I will try to help you with this issue.

As Windows Media Player is not able to access the file, suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if that helps. Follow these steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + X and click on Control Panel.
  
• 
  Click on Troubleshooting and click on View all.
  

Select “Windows Media Player Settings” troubleshooter and run it to check if that helps.

Further, you may also take ownership of the file to check if that helps.

Follow these steps:

• 
  Right click the file and select Properties.
  
• 
  Click the Security tab, tap or click Advanced, then tap or click Change. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  
• 
  Type the name of the person that you want to give ownership to, and then click Check Names.
  

Note: The account name for the person that you are assigning ownership to is displayed.

• 
  Click OK.
  
• 
  If you want this person to be the owner of the files and subfolders that are contained in this folder, select the “Replace owner on sub-containers and objects” check box.
  
• 
  Click OK.

Not able to stream media to smart tv

Sorry to know that you are unable to stream media to Smart TV on Windows 10. I will certainly help you.

In order to assist you better, please reply to the following questions.

1. Do you get any error message when you try to cast Smart TV?

2. Is this issue specific to particular media files or all media files?

3. Are you using Windows Media Player or other media player to cast on Smart TV?

4. Is the connection to Smart TV is through Wired or Wireless?
