Windows 10: Windows Media Player 12 Cover Art

I've been turning all my vinyl tracks into mp3s, putting them in artist and album folders and then using Mp3tag to retrieve tags and cover art from the web and write them as tags in the mp3 files.


Until yesterday, when I then opened Windows Media Player 12, the cover art showed in the library. a folder.jpg also appeared in each album folder.


Today after I did the same thing with a load of albums, WMP doesn't show the art in the library pane, but does show it in Now Playing view. There is no folder.jpg created.


Presumably either Mp3tag or WMP was creating the folder.jpg automatically from the tags in the files and now isn't Why?


I know I can fix this manually album by album, but it was working beautifully in bulk up to now. Any ideas?

and from the last link is the same error where you can just disable it too =)

By design Windows Media Player 12 doesn’t stretch the pictures like other media players and shows the original size of the album art.

You may customize the album art manually by adding a picture of your choice or matching an album in your Player Library with an entry in the online database or try changing the album art with a bigger size picture manually and
check.

Media Player album art

Where has the paste album art option in Windows Media Player gone? Is the now another way to add the desired album cover? A lot of the stuff I need isn't available for digital sale anywhere so info can't be found by the media player. Old demo tapes from
very obscure, and inevitably short-lived, 80s alternative bands mostly.

Windows 10. Media player 12 (I think).
