Windows 10: Windows Media Player. Cannot attach album picture.

Windows 11, version 24H2. I cannot attach album picture in Windows Media Player. When I try to do this, I get a message that says, "The album art cannot be changed while using the album song". No song is used. I get this information whenever I try to add an image to any album where the picture is missing. If I try to do the same thing in the new "Media Player" app, the embedded album art will appear, but it will disappear after you save the changes. Any idea? Thanks.

THE FIX for "Find Album Information" Windows Media Player for Windows 10

I was having difficulty updating my album info in Windows Media Player. I tried just about everything online to no avail. Then I followed these steps and it provided the resolution.

1. On the Start Menu - Type Manage Optional Features - You may have to enter your Admin credentials.

2. Scroll down and find Windows Media Player.

3. Click on it and select "Uninstall." It will disappear from the list.

4. Proceed to the top of the "Manage Optional Features" list and press the "+ Add a Feature."

5. Scroll all the way down the list, and select Windows Media Player, and select "Install."

6. Open up Windows Media Player, go to one of your Unknown Albums, right click on the Album picture, and select Find Album Information.

How to remove album art from Windows media player in Windows 10

Follow the below mentioned steps and check if they helps you.

• Open Windows Media Player.
• Click the Library tab, right-click on any of the column headers and select
  Choose Columns.
• 
  Uncheck the Album Art check box and Click OK.
  

Another way to do this

• Open "Windows Media Player."
• 
  Click "Library." Right-click the track or album you want to edit, and then click "Advanced Tag Editor."
  
• 
  Select the "Pictures" tab. Click the "Delete" button and then "Apply" to remove the album art.
  

Now check if it still displays the Album Art.

How do I change my artist profile picture in the new Windows 11 Media Player?

I think what he means is the Album Artist, not the Album Art. If the issue is the Album Art, then what you have suggested is correct. But Album Artist is different.

Album Artist is a picture of the artist that the user did not put there, but was downloaded automatically by Media Player. In my case, I always put Album Art on my music files, but Media Player does an extra step of adding a picture of the artist that appears alongside the Album Art when I play the music. And sometimes, Media Player gets the wrong picture.

And when it gets it wrong, I would change the name for "Contributing Artists" (like add a character) so that Media Player would remove the wrong picture and leave it blank instead.

So I guess this concern is not yet resolved. Currently, I don't see an option to manually add or select an Album Artist image for Media Player.
