Windows 10: Windows Media Player renamed all of my songs with illegal file characters...

I have some anime sound tracks that I ripped to mp3s for personal use. Windows Media Player renamed them all with foreign characters, and now I can't play most of them with winamp, which is my prefered music player. When I ripped them with a 3rd party utility to avoid this... I named them all manually. Windows Media Player Maybe even at the Windows 10 level identified most of them and renamed them with Japanese characters in the file names. Is there anything I can do to avoid this? I'm willing to try ripping them a 4th time... I'm really annoyed that I don't have control over this.

I would suggest you to check the ‘Windows Media Player’ settings from the steps below.

1. Open the ‘Windows Media Player’, in the player ‘Library’, click on ‘Organize’.
   
2. Select ‘Options’, this will open the ‘Options’ window for the ‘Windows Media Player’.
   
3. Click on the ‘Library’ tab, please confirm if the ‘Retrieve additional information from the Internet’ is checked, check the options ‘Rename music files using rip music settings’ and ‘Rearrange music in rip
   music folder, using rip music settings’ under ‘Automatic media information updates for files’. Click on ‘Apply’.
   
4. Click on the ‘Player’ tab and check the option ‘Connect to the Internet’. Click on apply.
   
5. Restart the ‘Windows Media Player’ and check if it works out for you.

No songs or videos in Media player

I have over 1200 songs and about 40 videos, some in phone memory and some in Sd card in my N900. The only way I can play them is to go to the file mgr and bring'em 1 by 1. Same with my videos. Any suggestions is appreciated in advance for getting my media
into the media player so that it s easier to play them and be able to create play list.

I suggest you to edit and rename the songs directly from the media player and sort them according to requirement. Follow the steps mentioned below to rename songs.

Steps:-

1. Open Windows media player.
2. Open the playlist.
3. Right Click on the songs and rename them.
4. After renaming the songs, sort them according to your requirements.
