Windows 10: Windows Media Player slow while loading audio or video

Media Player 11.2503.5.0 is taking an excessive amount of time to play an audio track after double-clicking from File Explorer or selecting a track from the Media Player Music Library. I have rebuilt the library index, run DISM with CheckHealth, ScanHealth, and RestoreHealth, and SFC with scannow. These methods have not improved the performance. Tried 3rd party apps VLC, and PotPlayer, and neither of them have a delay like Media Player does.I always appreciated that Windows 11 Media Player was performant to run and play content, but whatever is going on is unacceptable. Faulty Windows Media Player

Windows Mesdis Player developed a fault (Played jerky an missed bits) so I down loaded Media Player 10.

It's no better. Any suggestions (I run Windows 98)

 

Unable to load media in Windows Media Player

have you tried it with a different CD?

I suggest you to first run the Windows media player troubleshooter and check.

I suggest you to run both Windows Media Player Library and Settings troubleshooter and check.
