  3. I need to fix Windows 10's display (no borders?)

I just installed Windows 10 today, and unfortunately it's going the way I figured it would go, but the way I was hoping it would not go.

I have trouble visually tracking things, and I need lots of borders/lines. With this update, many of the borders from programs I use have disappeared to make a more "streamline" look. The lines/shades that used to differentiate between title bars and menus
have disappeared. This means that I have more trouble using the programs because my eyes don't know where to stop and I can't get my bearings.

Is there any sort of setting I can use to bring these borders back?

You are indeed correct. That would be the result of the shader function in the Graphics Cards not working properly.

It would be an Optimus laptop in which case the Intel driver should be installed first and then the Nvidia driver.
That would be taken care of by Windows updates which does that correctly, on mine anyway.
I don't know what system drivers maybe required, or whether Sony supplies them now.

You could also try going to settings/personalization and click on colors. Scroll to Transparency effects and toggle the slider on and off and check

Okay, let us know. Since the transparency worked for the start menu, give toggling the taskbar preview a shot too for the icon tray

    that didn't work unfortunately.

Transparency effects is also the shader so that confirms where the problem is.

As a check on driver installation go to the Device Manager and look at what has happened.

Device Manager > Display Adapters >
There should be two in there Intel and Nvidia.
Right click on the Intel one and > Properties > Events Tab >

This is mine that shows the sort of thing going down the events list, only relevant ones detailed:
    Intel
last line Device installed......ending in status 0x0:
    12/04/17 08:28:22
    Nvidia
    12/04/17 08:23:46 Device install requested
    12/04/17 08:24:07 Device install requested
    12/04/17 08:28:23 Device install requested
    12/04/17 08:29:04 Device migrated
    12/04/17 08:29:36 Device installed...ending in status 0x0

That shows that Windows updates did the right thing, only installing the Nvidia driver after the Intel one first.
So you should have something similar along those lines.

You need to scroll down that box, it's the last entry that should have 0x0
The Nvidia driver install, device migrated, should be following that timestamp. Though there maybe requests before it actually starts.
