    Hi,we have a problem with laptops that use the new S0 Modern Standby. We use EAP-TLS with computer certificate for network authentication. After the PC has been in power saving mode for some time, it no longer responds to EAP Request Identity packets from the switch. Even after the PC is woken up again, the network does not reconnect. The dot3svc is running and is set to automatic. In the debug log of the service I see the following error message: Event ID: 21030 Details: There is no 1x port available. The received packet is ignored. A recording with Wireshark proves that the EAP Request Iden

    How to enable S3 Sleep State and Disable Modern Standby (S0)

    Hi,

    I had checked this site already. The solution provided here disables the S0 modern standby, but it does not enable S3. (Meaning the sleep as a whole is removed itself)

    Excessive battery drain during S0 sleep (modern standby)

    S0 Modern standby is not sleep but a glorified idle condition. That's why it uses so much power - the computer is on during S0.

    S0 Low Power Idle (Modern Standby) and wake from sleep

    S0 is not really a sleep state but a glorified idle condition. There is no "wake" because there is no sleep.

    I also tried inhibiting S0 [on the one computer I have that's afflicted with this curse] and I found that doing so did not enable S3 [Sleep]. So I went back to normal and just set it up so it remained on the network while the display was off i.e. while in S0.
