Windows 10: Windows Mouse Scroll Wheel Suddenly Not Working

I have been using this mouse for over a year and suddenly today the wheel has stopped scrolling. The other function of pressing the scroll wheel and using the mouse itself to move the page works, so I am pretty sure that the wheel works.

I have tried updating the drive and fiddling with the settings, doing a restart and fixing yesterdays update and the wheel is still not working.

Anyone have any idea?

Mouse scroll stopped working


Suddenly the scroll wheel doesn't work. I've got a Dell 8500 PC, a Dell USB mouse and Windows 10. Everything has been fine, but suddenly the mouse is haywire. I tried updating my Dell drivers, checked the mouse settings in Windows 10 and turned off the "Scroll on inactive screen" setting. None of these worked.

P.S. I suspect Windows 10 suddenly thinks I have a tablet or a touch pad. How can I fix this?

Suggest you try:
a. A different mouse
b. Safe mode (will use different driver)
c. Check inside mouse- dirt can get into mouse around the scroll wheel - I find cat hairs accumulate
d.Check the value of




"WheelScrollLines"="0" - probably disables scrolling.
