Windows 10: Windows Movie Maker

I may be a bit behind the class on this subject (Researched once I realized that the program was no longer on my PC), but why was Windows Movie maker removed? The program was a very simple video compiler/editor, but it definitely did the trick in a pinch. The new option through the photo's program is sub-standard at best, an outright insult at worst. I know complaining won't make it come back, but I would appreciate some insight as to why it was removed to begin with.

Windows Movie Maker not recognizing .avi files

Follow the below steps to repair Windows Live Movie Maker.

• Type appwiz.cpl in the search box and hit Enter.
• Right click Windows Essentials 2012 and select repair.

1. Click the Start menu.

2. Click Control Panel.

3. Click Programs.

4. Click Programs and Features.

5. Search for Windows Essentials on the list and then select it.

6. Click Uninstall/Change.

7. Click Repair all Windows Essentials programs.
