Windows 10: Windows/MS office Account name change not working

Hello. After a factory reset I unfortunately entered a wrong name when setting up windows. Now the wrong name shows up as my account name when I start up windows, and also on every email I sent out. I tried to change the account name in the windows control panel but it wouldn’t save any changes. I also tried changing it in the MS 365 profile settings. There it says I cannot edit it and have to contact my administrator. I am the only administrator so I don’t understand why it is not possible.

Since you have already changed the name on your Microsoft account, we suggest switching into a local account, and then log back in with your Microsoft account. This way, we can be sure that any changes made to your Microsoft account will be synced to your
local user account.

For steps on how to switch to a local account:

• Click on Start.
• Click on Settings.
• Click on Accounts.
• Under Your account, click on Switch to a local account.

To switch back to a Microsoft account:

• Follow steps 1-3 above to get to Accounts.
• Under Your account, click on Sign in with a Microsoft account instead.

How to change admin user account name?

Ah so just ignore the 'Brink' and use the 'Brink2' as the example

And step 1 and 2, I was confused at that part also.
For example, my user account is called for e.g 'wizzle'
If I want to change the name to 'wizzle2', and by following steps 1 and 2;
-I sign out of my MS account (step 1)...and then sign in?

I understand the steps 3 onwards but steps 1 and 2 with the sign out/in was confusing :?

 

Change local user account name in Windows 10

Hello!

I've just reinstalled Win10 and created a second account for my wife. Unfortunately, the login names is the mail she's registered to Microsoft.

How can I change the name.

I've read an answer to same question suggesting following:

• Click on Control Panel.

• Go to User Account.
• Click on Manage another account

I don't have that option in Win10.
