Windows 10: windows network printers ; a giant shitshow after printnightmare updates august 2021

Hello All, So first of all, before i start my story, i've been a sysadmin for about 15 years now, and i have tried everything i can think about , but the problems keep returning So this post is a lengthy one since i am at a loss here.Since the printnightmare updates from august 2021 we still run into massive problems with networked printers the summary would be: * the default printer keeps changing to a never used virtual printer like microsoft pdf or webex virtual printer * installed network printers suddenly stop working, i need to manually install the printer again* the printer driv

• How is the printer connected to the computer, locally or through network?
• Have you tried any troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue?

I suggest you to try the below and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to update the drivers for printer and check.

• 
  Right click on the Start button from the desktop and select
  Device Manager.
  
• 
  Locate and expand Print queue.
  
• 
  Right-click on the printer driver
  that is listed and click Update driver software.
  

Step 2: I suggest you to run the printer troubleshooter from
“Fix printer problems”
and then check if this fixes the issue.

Network Printer NOT RECOGNIZED!

  Is your printer is connected to wired or wireless network?
  
• 
  Are you able to view your printer on your network location?
  

I would suggest you to try running Printer troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Type troubleshooting in the
  Search area on the taskbar.
  
• 
  Click on View all on the left panel of the Troubleshooting Windows.
  
• 
  Select Printer.
  
• 
  Follow the on screen instruction.
