Windows 10: Windows no longer recognising keyboard + mouse

Windows is no longer accepting my mouse and keyboard input. I have tried restarting my computer numerous times, switching usb ports, etc. The keyboard is still functional in the bios, but no input from mouse or keyboard is registered within windows, which means i am softlocked on my lock screen.

Leading up to this issue, i was installing a very old computer game, and trying to get it to run successfully. Windows had been attempting to use a compatibility layer for this. I was having no success with running the game, so i decided it would be worth rebooting in case that fixed anything. After rebooting, on the lock screen, i found that windows was no longer registering device inputs.

As part of this, the caps lock / num lock indicators on my keyboard have also stopped lighting up.

Windows 10 no longer recognises mouse or keyboard

Hi all,

after some more checking it appears that the usb ports no longer recognise inputs (keyboard, mouse, tablets, phone).

When i tried to do a system restore (roll back) there was no update yesterday. My PC did an auto shut down "windows encounter an issue " blue screen with . i assumed this initialized an update, but it did not. When windows reopened i was unable to use
mouse or keyboard.

I have tried recovery environment and am unable to 1. System restore or 2. Get into safe mode.

Any thoughts. Thankyou

• Select Device Manager.
