  1. Windows not able to change resolution w/ external monitor

I try to keep this short.Have a Asus TUF FX516PR. Since last year and a AOC Agon AG493UCX. Its a huge monitor in 32:9 if someone doesn't know, connected via usb-c. Last week i bought a new ssd and installed it. Put Windows10 on it and installed the Drivers from the Asus support page. Now to the problem. When i try to only put out my external monitor, it is limited to 1920x1080 16:9. I cant change anything in the Windows Screensettings as they are blank when only the external monitor is chosen. When i duplicate the Screen with my Internal monitor, the internal monitor will be shown with black

  2. Windows not able to change resolution w/ external monitor

I try to keep this short.

Have a Asus TUF FX516PR. Since last year and a AOC Agon AG493UCX. Its a huge monitor in 32:9 if someone doesn't know, connected via usb-c.

Last week i bought a new ssd and installed it. Put Windows10 on it and installed the Drivers from the Asus support page. Now to the problem.

When i try to only put out my external monitor, it is limited to 1920x1080 (16:9). I cant change anything in the Windows Screensettings as they are blank when only the external monitor is chosen. When i duplicate the Screen with my Internal monitor, the internal monitor will be shown with blackbars at the top and below, trying to go 32:9 also. When i first told the support from Microsoft, the expert installed some drivers in the device manager which worked! until i restarted the system.

After restart the fans got wild and the task manager said system is running at over 4ghz... Which is not normal i'd say as system is said to have 3,3ghz. Shortly after the system booted up, 3 mins maybe, the screen got black but the system kept going crazy. After a few tries it was silent and i again, put all my data on a stick, to reinstall Win again... and now - same problem again. I contacted the Support more than 3 times for now i think and they can't help. The first time she kinda got it right, don't know what she did, today the support tried installing the drivers which i already did... And i don't know how to continue... I want to fix it so i can use the system as before. Next thing that **** me up is thet the IntelGraphicscontrolpanel isn't able to change the resolution either. They completely disabled it. Where last year i could just do this in the Intel Panel directly w/o problems. Is there somewhere an older version of this?

    Help.

    External Monitor with Quicken

    Hi Mark,

It is possible that the display resolution automatically adjusts after connecting to an external monitor. For us to properly isolate this issue, we have some questions for you:

    • Are you experiencing the same issue even without using the Quicken tool?
    • Have you checked if the display resolution settings of the Surface device and the external monitor is the same?
    • Have you tried checking for a graphics device driver update?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done to isolate the issue?

We're looking forward to your response.

Windows not able to change resolution w/ external monitor

Windows doesn't have correct resolution for External Monitor

I have an Asus Laptop running windows 10. Just purchased a used HP L2208w monitor. using HDMI to VGA adapter since monitor doesn't have HDMI. I have googled for a couple hours and can't find a solution anywhere.

    Laptop monitor, everything is great.

HP monitor is blurry, most likely due to the wrong resolution set by windows, which is 1024 x 768. Monitor recommends 1680 x 1050.
How do I get windows to let me change the resolution to 1680 x 1050 for the external monitor?

    I've Tried:

    1. "updating" graphics driver to each of the three drivers on my computer by going into device manager.
    2. I went to HP website and downloaded latest driver for this exact monitor. restarted PC. no change.
    3. Connecting my wife's mac, which recognized and knew it was projecting to external monitor, but the monitor itself turned off, apparently detecting no signal. Couldn't get the mac to actually display on the monitor. Interestingly, in the display settings,
the mac also didn't find the correct 1680 x 1050 setting and ALSO defaulted to 1024 / 768 (with no option that I could see for the correct resolution).
    4. Various restart and unplug/plug combinations.
    Please help!
