Windows 10: Windows not able to read USB

Hello,

I am having difficulty with windows reading my USB. The USB seems to be corrupted but I am unable to format it in anyway. As soon as the USB is plugged in, the windows becomes slow. If I try to right click on the USB drive in file explorer, the file file explorer would always go to "Not Responding". I also tried "Diskpart > Listdisk" in CMD. but that also just freezes up. I also tried "Disk Management" app, but it also just freezes when USB is plugged in. It happened all of a sudden, was working fine before. Any help would be appreciated.

Installing windows off of a USB stick

Step By Step from vista:
From admin cmd prompt

1. diskpart
1a. list disk
2. select disk 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

Copy Windows Vista's DVD ROM content to the Flash Drive

xcopy d:\*.* /s/e/f e:\ (d being your vista cd and e being your usb stick)

And that's it, boot off your usb disk

 

USB is not being read

I suggest you to update the USB drivers by following the steps provided below:

• Press Windows key + X, select Device Manager.
• Expand Universal Serial Bus Controller.
• Right click on the drive, select Update Driver Software and follow the on-screen prompts.
