Windows 10: Windows Not Activated After Buying Used PC

Hello all,


I've done some research on this but I've not found anything helpful to my specific issue. I recently bought a PC from a trusted friend and it's been going great, however in my settings it's saying that "Windows is not activated" and it's giving me error code "0x803F7001". I have tried troubleshooting and it's just telling me "We weren't able to activate Windows on this device" and to buy a genuine copy of Windows basically. My friend never had this issue and never had any of this happen - he for sure got a genuine copy, so he doesn't know why this is happening for me. Neither of us know what's going on and I really don't want to spend almost $200 on a new windows copy. Please help!!!

Why did the startup window get cleared?

I didn't missed any step, the list was gone and gone , even after using lot of programs the programs were not listed in that list.

 

My PC suddenly says its not activated

I wish I could hands-on your PC .... it's a bit difficult explaining stuff...

The tutorials provided are just a list of troubleshooting steps. Use only the steps which apply to you.

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.
