  1. Windows Not Detecting RAM

So, the main issue is: Windows doesn't allow me to use my second RAM stick. Both were bought in the same box, designed to be used together.

Here are the specs for the RAM, motherboard and CPU:

    G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 16GB 2 x 8GB 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 PC4 24000

GIGABYTE X470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING AM4 AMD X470 SATA 6Gb/s ATX AMD Motherboard

    AMD RYZEN 7 2700 8-Core 3.2 GHz 4.1 GHz Max Boost Socket AM4 65W YD2700BBAFBOX Desktop Processor

I noticed such a few days ago. Windows stated that around half 8.1 gigabytes of memory were "hardware reserved". None of the solutions like msconfig helped, but updating my BIOS from F3 to F40 removed the hardware reserved issue. Quite literally, it now only recognised half of my RAM in resource monitor. Strangely enough, BIOS and CPU-Z both recognise their presence, and even Task Manager still shows that 8.1 gigabytes of memory are hardware reserved.

    Thank you.

    :)

Windows shows 8GB RAM installed but 4GB RAM is usable

    Hi There,

I've just upgraded my pc from 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM. Windows seems to have detected this upgrade but why does it show as only 4GB RAM available. The following is what I have tried so far with no luck:

    • I have tried the msconfig method on ensuring maximum memory is not checked.
    • physically removed the new RAM and reinstalled it
Any thoughts/suggestions on how i can resolve this matter?

    Thanks

    Ram problems

    Hi,

To better assist you, please answer the questions below.

    • What is the full specifications of your computer?
    • Which type of RAM are you trying to install?
    • Have you checked if the total RAM is detected in the BIOS?
    • Have you tried installing just the 8 Gb RAM and see if the system detects it?

We suggest that you contact the computer manufacturer for information on how to enter the BIOS and how to set the default settings. Also, you can ask them if there is an available update for the BIOS.

We're looking forward to your response.

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
