  1. Windows not generating dump files on BSOD

Hi, I'm running into some issues trying to analyze why I'm BSODing while trying to perform windows updates. Basically I'll be installing a windows update and then get a "kmode exception not handled" BSOD which some googling tells me is usually the result of a bad driver causing issues.

Great! It's really easy to identify which driver is causing the issues by using the mem dumps in "C:\Windows\minidump". Problem: the latest dump is from October 2020, and doesn't contain anything useful. No new ones since then even though I've BSOD'd many times trying to do these damn windows updates.

    https://i.imgur.com/Abv4IY3.png Things I've tried:

Increasing pagefile size to be more than physical memory (currently at 50gb of pagefile on the system disk)

Running memtest86 on a single stick of ram to confirm no hardware errors (BSODs continue)

Changing the memdump folder to a different folder in case there was some weird permission shenanigans happening

    Any ideas guys?

  2. BSOD not generating any Dump files...

    Thanks Richard.

I see the dump files were not generated due to an error.

    Windows Hello Driver is crashing.

The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device ROOT\WindowsHelloFaceSoftwareDriver\0000.

Dump file creation failed due to error during dump creation.

Because WMD is not a good tool to check memory, I suggest you to use memtest86+

Looks like a Memory test is required.

I suggest you to Run memory test for at least 8 passes, preferably Overnight.

When the test completes post back the Image(You can use your phone's camera).

  3. Driver verifier dump file BSOD

The Memory dump you uploaded was had a bugcheck of 50, not C4(Driver verifier Detected Violation). Nothing constructive was found in the dump, though.

    Step 1:

Configure your PC to generate MiniDumps:

Configure Windows 10 to Create Minidump on BSOD

    Step 2:

    Do a memory Test:

    Memory problems.

    Hi Groggubus,

Welcome to the 10forums Windows not generating dump files on BSOD :)

Please remove / disable items from the startup in taskmanager
These programs could interfere with the boot process giving you trouble and increase the boot time.

Daemon tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known cause for BSOD's.
Please remove Daemon Tools and run the SPTD pass through remover.

    1. Uninstall Daemon Tools
    2. Download the SPTD standalone installer and follow these steps:
      • Double click the executable to open it
      • Click on the button shown below

Windows not generating dump files on BSOD [IMG]

If the button is grayed out, like in the image, there is no more SPTD installation on your system, and you can close the window

Please follow this suggestion for the BSOD
    1. Please open BitDefender and go to the modules,
    2. Go to the firewall settings,
    3. Uncheck 'Block port scans in the network',
    4. Reboot your system <-- IMPORTANT
