Windows 10: Windows not letting me change my password after asking me to change it

Okay, so recently I joined with an organization and they asked me to apply policy to my laptop which they told was necessary and do no harm and was dedicated towards encryption and security. After I finished setting up my laptop with a VM, I put it to sleep and went off. Now here's where the problem begins, I open my laptop and while logging in to windows, it asks me to change my password before signing-in, when I try to change it, it says that your username/password is wrong. I am 100% sure that I'm using the right password since I have it for over an year. I have tried rebooting it several times, I also tried setting very complicated and difficult new passwords but it's still not happening. Can someone please help with this, because I need to sort this out urgently. Thank you in advance.

To change the password of the Local Account on Windows 10, follow the steps below:

• Press CTRL+Alt+Delete on your keyboard.
• Choose Change a password.
• Make sure to enter the correct old password before you can create your new password.

Hello Keith,

We suggest to change it from Control Panel. You may follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + X.
• Select Control Panel.
• Click BitLocker Drive Encryption.
• Click Unlock drive.
• Type your present password and click Unlock.
• The drive will be unlocked and you will notice more links on the right of that particular unlocked drive, click
  Change password.
• Now, you may type your Old password, New password and Confirm new password.
• Click Change password.
