The problem I am experiencing involves my windows not remembering their last position and size after they've been closed out, minimized or maximized single monitor display only. All of the file explorer windows default to the same size and location, and the installed program windows open in various locations and sizes but none of them remember the preferred location that I set. Sometimes windows open to very strange sizes and locations that I have never used before. The command prompt and powershell windows are also defaulting to a different and undesirable size. Remembering Window Position

I have Windows 11 and cannot save window position and size after shutdown. It will remember when it's opened/closed during the day without shutdown. After re-starting it will open to a fixed prior position, but not the last one prior to shutdown. I have tried all recommended actions on line, tweaking the bagMRU registry setting, "restore previous folder windows at logon" from Folder Options, etc., nothing seems to work. Anyone have suggestions on how to do this so I don't have to adjust window position after startup? Thanks for all suggestions. |

 

Windows 10 apps do not remember size and position on relaunch

OK, so I just found a workaround.

• Open the app and position and size it on monitor 2
• Move the app to monitor 1
• Close the app
• Relaunch the app, it should retain its size and position on monitor 1
• Move the app to the desired position on monitor 2
• Relaunch the app and all should be green

Let's just hope it continues to work on reboot.
