Windows 10: Windows not updating Nvidia graphic card/driver

Hello! So to start, today my computer looked very strange and upon further investigation, I realized that the resolution was set to 800 x 600. When I tried to change it, the max value was 1280 x 1024 for some inexplicable reason. I want to put it back into regular HD, but it didn't work.I ended up realizing my graphic card driver was not working correctly, so I tried to update it, and eventually uninstalled upon reading somewhere that that would reset it upon restart. Well it didn't, and noe I'm stuck with the Default Windows Graphics Adapter, and while Windows is suggesting an update for NVID

Uninstall and Reinstall the Graphics Card Drivers.

Step 1: Uninstall the Graphics Card
Drivers

• 
  Right click on the Start menu.
  
• 
  Click on “Device Manager” from that list.
  
• 
  Search for the Graphics Card
  from the device list, right click on it and then select “Uninstall”. On the un-installation window, if you have an option: “Delete the driver software for this device” you may select that and then remove the corrupted drivers
  from the computer.
  
• 
  Follow the on-screen instructions to complete it and then restart the computer if prompted.
  

After the restart, please go ahead with the next steps to install the latest drivers and check if that resolves the issue.

Step 2: Go to the Computer or Graphics Card
manufacturer’s website and search for the latest Windows 10 drivers available for the
Graphics Card model and then install it by following the instructions given in the website.

Unable to update NVIDIA Graphic Card Driver

Its been a problem for a while that I haven't been able to update my NVIDIA graphic card drivers. I have NVIDIA Geforce 820m 2gb graphic card on my laptop(ASUS K555L) and the current driver version is VERSION 376.54 running on Windows 8.1.

When I run the driver installer, it gives a message saying that the installer cannot continue and that the hardware is incompatible with the driver software. Now I have double checked the installer before downloading it and everything is correct.

Then I tried Device Manager and selected my graphic card and tried to update the driver via the option "Search automatically for updated driver software". But it said that the driver is up to date.

After that I tried "Browse my computer for driver software" and selected the driver folder on my driver and clicked Next, but again it said that the driver was up to date.

I also tried to do it by Geforce Experience but there too, it is saying that the drivers are up to date.

I tried again and again but the result was always as listed above.

If anyone knows what has to be done, then please help!!
