Windows 10: Windows Not Updating to 1809 In Spite of No Blocks

I have tried and tried and tried multiple ways. I have tried Windows Update, Media Creation Tool, Update Assistant, and all of them won't let me update to 1809. MCT and UA all get to the end then say Undoing Changes Made.

I understand there is some blocks on certain hardware or certain drivers but none of those apply to me at all. I have a similar computer to my brother and his worked through Windows Update. Only his video card is newer than mine. I do have an AMD GPU but its not the 2000 or 4000 series cards. Mine is a Radeon HD 5770 PCI-E.


My whole specs are ASUS M5A990 Motherboard

AMD Phenom II 965 3.4ghz

12gb GSkill RAM

AMD Radeon HD 5770

Crucial 128gb SSD

WD Black 640gb

WD Black 1tb

ASUS DVDRW


Logitech KB and Mouse

Unplugged any other external USB devices except Samsung printer which was turned off.


Genuinely don't understand what is holding my computer back from updating.

cannot save word files after 1809 update

My only suggestion is to roll back to version 1803. And then block 1809.

 

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.


Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Windows update issues

It works, but I still need to fix it so that way I dont have to plug computers directly to the modem to get windows update to work. It was also blocking me from installing directx.
