    So i ran the windows offline scan. When i look into the log file, time started is14:29 Aug 9, 2021 but then the after lines are in the future. The log file modified time is also in the future Aug 10, 2021.     Windows Updates failed to instal

    I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time

    Windows Defender offline scan

    If you read this before edit...disregard. I thought that the OEM partition created by Windows update install had something to do with Offline scan. I was able to get it to run twice...but a third time later in the day failed. I have the registry entry listed above by the way and it still doesn't work.

    Defender Periodic Scanning or Offline Scanning?

    That link does suggest it's useful to use Defender offline scanning in addition to periodic scanning and a third party real time anti virus (e.g. Kaspersky).
