Windows 10: Windows.old directory

My PC was originally Windows 10, but I've had to do a repair in place twice die to issues. This created a Windows.old directory and a Windows10Upgrade directory.


My C: drive is full, so I tried to delete Windows.old. Almost all was deleted except there were files shown as "in use". If this was a backup of a previous install, I am not sure why anything would be "in use". After the delete, I had cleared up about 40GB of space but my graphics were screwed up. After rebooting, the login screen was blank and typing my password was invisible. Once logged in, a CTL-ALT-DELETE to open the task manager also resulted in a blank screen. It was so bad, I did another Repair in place.


Now all is back to normal, except the Windows.old directory is back and my C: Drive is full again.


Why does deleting windows.old cause display problems and why are files in use?


I see no alternative except to reinstall windows 10 by doing a clean install and reinstalling all my software.

Directory Size Utility

First of all nice utility, Mindweaver!
Second of all, it's so nice to see that this section ain't dead.

I have a few questions/suggestions, maybe you'd want to see ...

• maybe you rename Get Folder button caption to something more intuitive? Add Folder, Get Folder Size, Check Folder Size or something like that?
  
• Could you add subfolder files to the right pane? (it can be a tickbox with include sub dirs)
  
• maybe you also add export list to excel?
  
• there's delete file button maybe you add delete folder button too?
  
• and finally maybe you can add UP button for directories?
