Windows 10: Windows.old file automatically emptied within 5 hours of windows reinstallation

I had to do a fresh install of Windows 10 in the wee hours last night after struggling to get my laptop to boot properly all day. Everything went well. I checked that all my files were safe and sound in windows.old at 3am last night, slept like a baby, then woke up at 8am to find that the windows.old file had been emptied entirely.I've learned an important lesson about backing up and not letting things linger in the windows.old file. BUT FIVE HOURS? Everything I read said I would have ten days to deal with the windows.old file before it was deleted. Do I have any options here? Am I just totall

windows automatic updates

i have some questions about the windows automatic updates in windows xp pro w sp/2. ive got about forty updates they recommend , mostly for security but i only installed two today. after installing them i found them in my add/remove programs in the control panel, if i add all these updates that is a lot of space on my hd almost 1 gig. i thought that updates just updated files and not created new programs. should i innore all these update suggestions from microsoft?

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Change motherboards without reinstalling Windows 7!

Don't even need to go through all those steps. Once you got into safe mode,windows 7 will rebuild it's drivers automatically. Boot normally and then install chipset drivers if not already in.

Edit:
One thing though, it gets hectic with RAID and you will NEED to reinstall/rebuild the array. Only circumstance where you will find driver conflicts.
