Windows 10: Windows.old folder on brand new laptop?

So I bought a brand new Acer Nitro 5 laptop from Best Buy about 2 months ago and just now noticed a windows.old folder on my C: drive which is about 31GB in size.

Is this normal for a new laptop and can I delete the folder without any harm to my pc?

How do I make a folder on one laptop visible to another laptop?

I re-read your first post. Here are the steps I've taken.

1) One folder on the old laptop => Properties => Sharing => Advanced Sharing => Share this folder.

2) Same folder => Properties => Security => all user names have full control. (My new laptop name is not listed). I don't see a way to add my new laptop name.

3) Folder Explorer on my new laptop => Network --- lists my Win7 laptop --- does not list my old laptop.

 

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

brand new lap top battery

I ran the troubleshoot power option and it said “Display brightness setting is too high”

but it’s a brand new laptop, i should think I could expect the most from it.

I haven’t tried the next steps uou have suggested yet.
