Windows 10: Windows on my second screen go back to my main screen when my monitors go to sleep

This is driving me nuts. Say I have a window on my secondary monitor. If the monitors go to sleep because of inactivity or because I lock my PC, when I come back ALL the windows that were previously in the second monitor are in the main monitor.

My main monitor is the LG 27GL850-B at 2560x1440 and 125% scaling, and my second monitor is the AOC G2590PX at 1920x1080 and 100% scaling. Both are connected via DisplayPort and both run at 144 Hz.

Any ideas on how to prevent this from happening?

Returning Windows to Second Screen

Project Second screen constantly appearing.

• what is the exact issue that you want us to help with? Do you want to get help in projecting a second screen or to remove the popup?
• As you've said " I tried unsuccessfully to project a screen", do you wish to project a second screen currently?
• What happened exactly when you tried to project a second screen? Did you receive any error message or any error code?

The popup comes as the system might not be able to detect the monitors. I suggest you to update the Display drivers, it may force the system to detect the available monitors. Here is the steps:

• Press “Windows + X” and select Device manger.
• Locate the driver and expand the driver icon.
• Right click on the driver icon and click on Update.
