Windows 10: Windows OS Activation Keys

I have a question regarding the number of activations that a Microsoft OEM Windows Key has. We have a customer that we build PCs for and activate Windows with an OEM key, that is found on a physical envelope with a physical CD. The customer likes to re-image their PCs every year and after a few years of re-imaging they get an error message that they have reached the limit of the activation. Everything that I have researched says that, OEM keys should have unlimited activations as long as the PC was not modified. Can you confirm this or point me in the right direction?

Not only that, you can check your M$ account and see what devices are listed there, so you know if you can do a clean install or not. Do the upgrade, get it activated, verify that it is listed in your account, then feel free to do a fresh install without activation issues ever.

I confirmed this, although it listed a different product key than the one given for my copy of XP. 0.o

 

Windows 7 not genuine problem

It seems like that's an OEM windows copy, it will do that the every time you reinstall the OS. If you have the key, next time you see the "not genuine windows copy" click it and choose to activate by phone, everything else is pretty straight forward as it explains step-by-step. If it doesn't work, then its highly likely that you got a Pirate copy.
