Windows 10: Windows password problem

For some reason when ever i forgot a password i make a new one and put that new password as my current one. when ever i type the right exact password it always says incorrect, i tried using a on screen keyboard but that didn't work either. and there is a random email that i have no idea about, that tells me to send a code to them "ph******@gmail.com" again this is NOT my email. im very stressed about this. This problem is only happening in the window account settings on the setting app. but does not happen on microsoft online domain. If there is a fix for this problem please let me know!By Anw

You can reset your password following the next steps:

• Reboot your computer / Turn your computer on.
• Hold down the Shift key at the start of the boot process to enable the GNU GRUB boot menu (if it does not show)
• Press ESC at the GNU GRUB prompt.
• Press e for edit.
• Use the Arrow keys to highlight the line that begins with kernel and press the e key.
• Go to the very end of the line and add rw init=/bin/bash
• Press Enter and then press b to boot your system.
• Your system will boot up to a passwordless root shell.
• Type in passwd yourusername
• Set your new password.
• Restart your system.
