Windows 10: Windows Phone Link downloads corrupted HEIC photos to my PC

Hi there!I have a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra with Android 13 linked to my PC Windows 11 with Phone Link app. Everything works correctly. I can do remote control, see photos and videos, see SMS, etc., but downloading photos from my cell phone to my PC doesn't work properly. All the photos I take on my cell phone are in HEIC format. When I download them using Phone Link, the photos arrive corrupted. If I send them to my cell phone using any other App, the photos can be viewed correctly on my PC.Thanks!Regards,

Help with .HEIC format photos.

As for me, this link says: HEIC Image Viewer is a widely used tool to view, print, convert photos, pictures and images.

Please try to find HEIC in Microsoft Store.

 

.heic in Windows

Hi, my PC is running Windows 10 (happy to upgrade to 11) and I downloaded some iPhone images (.heic). My Photos app opens those files without a problem (I have not upgraded anything or installed HEIF Image Extensions). Other Apps appear to have problems seeing the .heic files at all. I use a third party software in which I upload images and that software is not able to see the .heic files. I tried 3D paint and the same there, can't open the files. Photos can convert .heic to .jpg, that helps in the meantime, but that's not what I'm after in the long run;

Is HEIF Image Extensions the way to go to teach all Apps to be able to handle .heic?

How come Photos is capable but the other programmes are not?

Hi Sumit, thanks for the reply.

Your suggestion is another viewer for the .heic format, which I will go for if I need to do Batch Conversions.

My main, rather pressing, question is more towards a blanket add-on for all other software/programmes/Apps that do already read .jpg, .png, .gif (and so on). How can .heic be added to the list of file formats for all of them? Or is that a matter of the software producer, on a one-by-one basis? Like I mentioned before, I use a 'very small' cataloguing software which incorporates photos and the programmer/software owner replied that it is a matter of Windows and not individual software.

Am I on the right track to understand this?
