Windows 10: Windows Photo app changes the colour of the image when in edit mode

I have had this issue since day 1 and I never realized it until I opened the picture in another photo application other than the native Photos app. here is the example. On the left is the Photos app and on the right is an app called ImageGlass. I use the edit feature quite a lot to make comments on my pictures as I save them.You can clearly see that the Photos app default view is washed out compared to the nice dark and proper colours on the right side in the other app. But watch what happens when I click on edit on the Photos app. It looks the same as the right side default view. Windows 11 Image Editing change the Colour of the image

Since upgrading to Win 11, editing photos changes the image colour (less saturation) even when I only am cropping or resizing an image.

Does anyone know a fix for this?

Thanks for the quick response.

I have put the legacy app on the PC to test. All the colour adjustment sliders are set to 0. No filters are used

Saving a copy of the image does not impact the colour of the jpg compared to the source.

Resizing and saving a copy of the image does not seem to impact the colour of the jpg compared to the source

Cropping the image and saving over or saving a copy of the image does change the colour compared to the source. This seems to be persistent across the installation of windows. Trying FSresizer to resize the image also changes the colour of the image.

I think this changed after an update came through on Windows 11 and it is not necessarily related to moving from Windows 10 to 11 as it has only started happening in the last two months.

How do I get the edited photos from 10 Photos app to change on the hard drive?

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community.

I suggest you to try the steps provided below and check the behavior:

• Go to the folder in hard drive.
• Right click on the photo you want to edit.
• Click on Open with and select
  photos (To open that particular photo in Windows 10 photos app).
• Make some changes in the photo and click on
  save.
• Now go back to the folder and check the if you see the changes you made.
