As the title says, if I open too many images from my download folder, at some arbitrary point, the app will just refuse to load any image when I click on another image from the folder, as well as not allowing me to use the side buttons to move to another image in the folder.On other folders, namely, with image preview my downloads folder is a list, it still works. I should also mention that my downloads folder is not the default C: directory. However, in the downloads folder in the C: directory, it still works even after it stops working with the other non-standard downloads folder.As you ca

Photos are opening with Paint instead of Photos app

It's likely that your default application for opening photos is Paint. To change your default program in Windows 10 from
Paint to the Photo app, we suggest that you perform the following steps:

• On the Start menu, select Settings.
  
• Go to System, then go to Default apps.
  
• Select Photos or any app that you like to be the default under
  Photo viewer.

Unable to replace Photos app with Photo Viewer as default (10240).

Right there in my first bullet point: "Windows Photo Viewer is never listed as an option when using "Open with".

That would work if Windows Photo Viewer were in the list but it is not.

1. If I right-click a photo and choose "Open with", Windows Photo Viewer is *not listed* (only Paint and Photos).
2. I select "Choose another app" followed by "More apps" it is still *not listed*.
3. If I continue and select "Look for another app on this PC", I can navigate to "C:\Program Files\Windows Photo Viewer". However it contains only one program called "ImagingDevices" and it is *not* an image viewer.
4. If I display "All files" instead of just "Programs" I can see "PhotoViewer.dll". However, selecting this item results in an error message indicating it cannot be used for displaying photos.

 

photos app stopped working in Windows 10

I am trying to open photos in Windows 10. The default app is Microsoft Photos. The app just stopped working this afternoon. When I try to open a picture it comes up with an error saying "The app didn't start". I have tried to delete and reinstall the
app, but the uninstall options I have tried cannot find the app. I have searched to find the Photos application file on the computer and I cannot find it, but when I try to reinstall or update the app from the windows store it says the app is already installed.
There is no way to reinstall it. The app icon is listed in the All Apps list, but when I click on the button there is a brief flash and I get bounced back to the desktop. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Failing that, is there a way to I reset the default photo viewer to Windows Photo Viewer? It is a pain to have to go through the right click - "Open With" process to pick a different program every time I have to open a photo.
