Windows 10: Windows Photos app, "motion pictures" and arrow keys

Hi,I would like to create a bug report for the following issue:This happens when viewing so called "motion pictures" those are .jpg files which have a 3 second video attached of what happened just before the picture was taken, they are produced by my Samsung phone and using the arrow keys to cycle through multiple of those pictures in the same folder.When you open a motion picture, then use the arrow keys to cycle to the next picture, click on "MOTION" to view the video, cycle to the next picture again, and again click on "MOTION", the picture viewer will turn black and not show photos anymo

Photos direction arrows not showing

Before proceeding, we need more information to help you better.

  Since when you are facing this issue with Photos app?
  
• 
  How many photos are present in the subfolder from where you are trying to open Photos through Photos app? (Inside the My pictures sub folder)
  

Please be informed that if you have only one photo in the subfolder from where you are trying to open the photos in File explorer, you will not see the direction arrows in the Photos app to view the next picture in the Photos app.

If you have multiple pictures in the subfolder from where you are trying to open the photos in File explorer, then follow the below steps and check if you are able to view the right and left directions in the Photos app to view the pictures.

Step 1:

I suggest you to run the Windows app troubleshooter and check if you are able to fix the issue with Photos app.

Run the troubleshooter for Windows apps

Fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store - Microsoft Support

If the issue still persists, follow the below step.

Step 2:

You may try to uninstall the apps which came inbuilt with Windows 10 using Windows PowerShell and reinstall using Windows store. Follow the below steps to uninstall and reinstall the Photos app.

  Open the Start menu, type
  Windows PowerShell in the search bar.
  
• 
  Right click on the Windows PowerShell and select
  Run as administrator.
  
• 
  Enter the below command to reinstall the Photos app.
  
  get-appxpackage *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage
  

Note: After performing the above steps, install the Photos app form the Windows store.

You may try to open the photos app and check if the issue persist.

Photos App arrow keys not working

I'm using an ASUS K501UW with Windows 10 installed with all the latest updates.

I have a habit of using my arrow keys to navigate through my pictures in the Microsoft Photos App. A few days ago, the arrow keys suddenly stopped working. It seems to be a glitch because I am able to go ahead for one
or two pictures using the arrow keys but it gets stuck on the next. I am able to click on the Next button using my mouse to go ahead but I would really prefer using the arrow keys.

Please help?

 

WINDOWS 10 -- Photos App Why cant I use my arrow keys to scroll through photos in a folder?

I think I have found the cause for this problem. If the folder which the viewed photo is in isn't in the Folders section of the Photos App, I don't get any arrows and cannot browse through the pics. If I am viewing a picture in Pictures folder which is in
the list of folders in Photos app, I can skim through them with arrow keys.

I really hope someone finds a solution to this. This started happening for me after an update.
