Windows 10: Windows photos app suddenly not zooming to fit by default and no setting to make it default...

I am using windows default photo viewer and for the longest time when I opened a photo it would be zoomed to fit. Now all of a sudden any photo I open is zoomed to fit for a fraction of a second before it jarringly zooms it to "actual size". There is no setting to change this default and when i click the button at the top to change the mode it will keep as long as I only move forward in the photos. If I go backwards it suddenly loses that setting and now all photos are "actual size" again. Is there some hidden setting to change this or do I just need to get a new photo viewer? I have restarted

Hello guys,
I wish I could set the default zoom level of my default photo viewer (I can choose Photo app or Windows Photo Viewer or some third program too).
I want the default program to be able to open/switch within photos at the default photo size (100% zoom of the photo) and not with the default screen size (100% zoom of the screen size).
Any idea how to do that? Maybe some registry key to edit? Any software to suggest?

Sorry to know that the issue persists. I suggest you to search for it in Search and pin it to Start Menu.

I suggest you to try the steps below and check if it helps.

• Go to search and type Photo Moto app. Right-click on it to pin it to Start menu.
• Go to Search. Type Settings. Click on it open.
• Click on System. Click on Default apps. Then follow the instructions from the link below to set Photo Moto as default app for Photos.

Lost default photo viewer after profile rebuild

Thanks Brink. I've tried those steps before i started searching Google. After the profile rebuild i don't have the Photo app listed to choose to make it default in either the system settings for default apps or the Open With option.

I can't even find it doing a search. Seems to have been removed somehow with the profile rebuild, which doesn't make sense.

Might be helpful to list what i've done I've done the open with check, the choose default program in the system menu, tried that in device manager default programs also. I've checked the programs and features Turn windows features on/off and it's not listed there (never thought it was but that was a suggestion), searched the MS Store, it's not listed there either.

I don't like playing in the registry unless i have defined steps and haven't found anything for this yet, just the Win7 version like in my OP.
