  1. Windows Powershell - UAC prompt not entering foreground

I've been having an issue where ONLY Powershell has been refusing to come to the foreground of Windows when I attempt to launch it as administrator. Every other program/exectuable I luanch forces the UAC into the foreground with the greyscale background. The UAC for powershell does activate, however, it remains on the taskbar and blinks because the new window is not in focus and had a change.

I have seen and tested the exact same reaction on three completely separate PCs that are all completely different environments. Was there some windows update that caused Powershell to no longer auto-prompt to the foreground with a run as administrator?

    :)

  2. UAC prompt asks to enter password in Windows 10

    Hi Irinelonofrei,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I would suggest you to login to the built-in admin account and check:

    1. Click on Start icon and select Command Prompt run as administrator
    there.

    2. Accept the UAC prompt.

    3. Enter the following command to enable the hidden administrator account:
    net user administrator /active:yes

Note: To disable the account follow the instructions : net user administrator /active:no

If you can log into the Default Administrator account, follow these steps to perform System Restore:

    a. On the desktop, press Windows key + R to open a Run Dialog.

    b. Type %systemroot%\system32\rstrui.exe.

    c. Press Enter and select a restore point before the account got deleted.

If issue persists, also try this:

Try to save the password in credential manager and check. Refer to the steps below:

    • Press Windows key + X.
    • Click on Control Panel.
    • Click on "Credential Manager" and select "Windows Credentials".
    • Go down to "Generic Credentials" and select "MicrosoftAccount:user=<user_name>" (where <user_name> should be your user name).
    • Click "Edit" and Change the password and press "Save".
    • Check if issue persists.

Hope this helps. Feel free to get back to us for further queries. We will be happy to assist you.

    Thanks and regards,

PowerShell instead of Commandline in Creators Update

Interestingly enough my personal laptop just got the update...and still has Command Prompt listed, not PowerShell...

Edit: Not that it matters...I use both regularly. *Toast :toast:
