Windows 10: Windows Precision Touchpad Jumps Back When Clicking

The Windows Precision Touchpad driver has an annoying "feature" I can't figure out how to disable.When moving the cursor to a button and clicking the touchpad, the cursor jumps back to where it was before I started moving it. This happens whenever I click within about 1 second of moving the cursor.This seems intended to prevent accidental mouse motion while clicking down on the touchpad, but it's incredibly annoying because it reverts my intentional mouse motions.Is there any way to disable this feature? The only way I found to prevent this was to uninstall the entire Synaptics driver, but thi

Windows Precision Touchpad - Cursor Jumps on Click!?

I recently bought a new laptop with a touchpad that uses Windows precision drivers. It drives me mad to no end that sometimes when I move the pointer slightly to hover over and object, then click, the cursor jumps back to where it was before I moved it.

I can only assume this is some sort of feature of the WPD to prevent accidental movement of the cursor when clicking, but I'm very precise with my cursor movements and this feature makes my touchpad 1000 times harder to use. Is there any way to turn it off?

I suggest you to check the setting of the precision touchpad.

1. Type setting in search.

2. Select devices and tap on mouse and devices.

3. Check the settings.

You may also update the touchpad drivers from Device manager to check if that helps

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Method 1: Run Hardware and devices Troubleshooter.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your devices. Refer these steps:

• 
  Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.
  
• 
  Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.
  
• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.
  
• 
  Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.
  

Method 2: Compatibility mode.

I would suggest you to uninstall and re-install the latest available touchpad drivers on manufacturer's website in compatibility mode.

Follow the steps below on how to install driver in compatibility mode:

1. Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website and save it on your local disk.

2. Right click on the setup file of the driver and select “Properties”.

3. Select “Compatibility” Tab.

4. Place a check mark next to “Run this program in Compatibility mode” and select operating system from the drop down list.

5. Let the driver install and then check the functionality.
