Windows 10: Windows prevents moving files from desktop to file exprorer.

Hi.I've recently done a clean Windows 10 install on my machine, and noticed that I am not able to move files from my desktop to pinned directiories inside the file exprorer, ones on the right side of the window. I've never experienced such issue before and despite being able to troubleshoot most of the ones I encounter I am simply not able to get a solution for this. I've tried holding left mouse button and pressing the ESC key like some tutorials adivsed to but it did not work. to prevent it from autopopulating try making the reg key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
\Applets\Paint\Recent File List read only

 

windows 10 deleted my desktop files

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

• Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
• Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
• Click on Users, select your User name
• Go to desktop folder

Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.

you get the idea. ( too lazy to put it in a for loop and test it.

or just open regedit and remove all the fileX from that key.
