Windows 10: Windows Printer Properties Dialog Box

I just replaced an old HP printer with a new one. When I click Printer Properties with this new printer, I get this pop-up:Question #1: Is this a Windows Printer Properties dialog box , or HP software pop-up? HP says it’s Windows, but I never saw this pop-up with my old printer!Question #2: With my old printer, the Printer Properties Dialog Box would pop up quickly, and I could make changes. This new dialog box takes 20+ seconds to pop up on the screen every time. I suggest you to follow the below steps how to go to printer settings.

• In the search box type “control panel”.
• Click on “device and printers”.
• Then you can right click on your printer and then click on properties, change accordingly.

Printer icons in print dialog boxes

After I upgraded my HP LaserJet printer two icons for the printer now appear in the print dialog boxes-a new one and an old one. Of course, you can’t print to the old one, but some of my programs default to the old one HP informs me this is a Windows 10
issue since the printer performs well.

When I check Printing Preferences for the printer, two printers appear in the drop down menu: the old one and the new one. Print Server Property lists only one driver.

How can I remove all instances of the old printer from print dialog boxes?

 

Cannot communicate with the printer. Turn Enable bi-directional support on in the printer's Properties dialog box

I finally figured how to' enable bi-directional support'. this is what I did:

My problem was, when printing:

Cannot communicate with the printer.

Turn Enable bi-directional support on, in the printer's Properties dialog box.

Go to the document you want to print.

Take the paper out of your paper feeder.

Press Print.

The ‘dialogue box’ will open because there is no paper in the paper feeder. Good!

Now you can click on the button that says: Display Print Queue.

Right click on the name of the document in the dialogue box.

Click on ‘properties’.

Left click on the ‘ports’ tab.

Tick the box at the bottom that says: Enable bi-directional support.

Click on ‘apply’.

Restart computer.



The problem is gone!! Once it’s corrected, you don’t get the Enable bi-directional support on in the printer's Properties dialog box anymore.
