Windows 10: Windows Product Key is Missing After Resetting Computer

I've reset my laptop, and upon doing so, I received a warning that Windows is not active on my laptop.I previously had an OEM license for Windows 11 on the device which worked fine, but now the Product Key section is labelled as being missing.I was able to determine the key that was utilized prior to the reset, but being an OEM license, I was given an error when I input it as a key after the reset.Further details:I reset my laptop using the Windows Reset from Cloud Option.

Convert a Windows 8pro product key to a Windows 10pro produkt key

Thank you for contacting Microsoft community.

I suggest you to Uninstall the license using the following steps.

• Press Windows key + X
• Click Command Prompt (Admin)
• At the command prompt, type: slmgr.vbs -upk
• Press Enter, this will uninstall the product key from the computer.

Further on, install Windows 8.1 activate the copy with the product key on the new machine. Then again upgrade the same to Windows 10 using Window Update or Media Creation Tool.

Windows 10 product keys and activation - and the KMS angle

Changing the product key to the generic Windows 10 product key will reset activation to the standard retail channel for activation. It might just activate (if there was a previous digital license for Windows 10 for that computer established with Microsoft). Once Windows 10 is back on the retail activation channel, then more than likely changing the product key to the Windows 8 product key using the same method may work.
