Windows 10: Windows Product Key Not Working

I recently found my old windows 10 laptop from the basement. It was a Windows 10 Pro Edition. The laptop was completely dead and could not boot up. However, I found the product key for it. Unfortunately I could not apply the Pro edition key on my main Windows 11 Home pc. Although the hard drive was dead and had no chance to recover, I have been using the same account that is linked to the laptop. What should I do?

Convert a Windows 8pro product key to a Windows 10pro produkt key

Thank you for contacting Microsoft community.

I suggest you to Uninstall the license using the following steps.

• Press Windows key + X
• Click Command Prompt (Admin)
• At the command prompt, type: slmgr.vbs -upk
• Press Enter, this will uninstall the product key from the computer.

Further on, install Windows 8.1 activate the copy with the product key on the new machine. Then again upgrade the same to Windows 10 using Window Update or Media Creation Tool.

I suggest you to try to activate Windows by phone by following the steps below:

• Press “Windows key + R” and type “slui 4” and press Enter.
• Select your Region/Country.
• Select the Phone Activation option, and hold on for a real person.

Finding the Windows Vista product key

Allright,I've tried the Hirens BootCD on USB drive and it works like charms.unfortunately,none of the utilities included on it helped me to recover the vista product key..but thats not important anymore,cos I just did a fresh install in the end..everything works fine,but a new issue arise.
DVD drive not recognized in my computer under Vista
tried few things but no results..what do you suggest guys?
