  1. Windows recovery and reserved files showing showing as files in quick access

When I open Quick Access I find, in addition to the files I would expect; local SSD (CWindows recovery and reserved files showing showing as files in quick access :), DVD (FWindows recovery and reserved files showing showing as files in quick access :), Ext HD (GWindows recovery and reserved files showing showing as files in quick access :), and Disc Image (JWindows recovery and reserved files showing showing as files in quick access :); I also get Windows recovery (DWindows recovery and reserved files showing showing as files in quick access :), System reserved (EWindows recovery and reserved files showing showing as files in quick access :), System reserved (IWindows recovery and reserved files showing showing as files in quick access :). I had never seen these additional files at any time in the past and I don't know how to remove them from the page. The main problem with them is that they load screens when I want only the main page. I guess I am not being very clear but what happens when I want to load local disc (CWindows recovery and reserved files showing showing as files in quick access :) the recovery page loads first, followed by the system reserved page and then the SSD (CWindows recovery and reserved files showing showing as files in quick access :) page. How do these extra files load and how can I stop it?

    :)

  2. Files not showing in Quick Access

Why are ordinary doc and xls files which I open, update and save not showing in my list of Recent Files in Quick Access? The File Explorer is set to Quick Access. Thanks in advance.

Files not showing in Quick Access

I just tested that. Any "new" docs are displayed in QA, but updated ones are not. I made a new doc, saved it, and it was in QA. In QA, I right-clicked "Remove from QA". Went back to Word and modified it, and saved. It did NOT show in QA. So....appears only new docs, etc., least from Office Apps, show up. Reason? Really no idea, just verifying you are correct. I modified an existing text document in my user files with Notepad, and it showed up. Must be something quirky with Office and Explorer.

Windows recovery and reserved files showing showing as files in quick access

Recent files and folders not showing in Quick access

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you are unable to see files and folders under the Quick access section.

The Quick access section will show all the recent files accessed under the recent files section and the most recent folder on the left pane.

As per the screenshot provided by you, I can see that the options are already checked. I suggest you to click on the
Restore Defaults button to restore the settings back to default and check if that helps.

You can also create a new user account and check if the options are working. Follow the steps from the article

Create a local user or administrator account in Windows 10
to create a new user account.

Also, I suggest you to run DISM command to check for system file corruptions and repair them. Please follow the steps mentioned below to run DISM scan:

    1. Type Command prompt in the search bar.
    2. Right click on the Command prompt icon and select
      Run as administrator.
    3. Type the command DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
      and press Enter.
    4. Restart the PC.

    Hope it helps.

Please reply with the status of the issue, we will be glad to help you further.
