  1. Windows registry - I cannot delete a user file in the registry

In the last week I have been redirected to a hijacked site that says "that your computer has been hijacked and you will not be able to save your files, then it says do not shutdown" Well, that's exactly what I do is I disconnect from the internet, and then I can close everything down, this has happened a few times now, so I finally went looking for a way to look for it, I tried malwarebytes, I tried Norton's cloud based emergency scan and Trend's scan, none of them are finding the user, I found a video on Youtube that showed me how to find and remove users that shouldn't be there, so I went into regedit and I went to the location in internet settings/ permissions, I followed their directions and I disabled inheritance like it said that I had to do, I clicked remove and as soon as I click the enable button the user comes back, I then tried to remove it and clicked apply, and it returns immediately... I do not know what else to try.. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    :)

  2. Deleted Registry Files

Hi I'm Greg, a volunteer installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

Can you System Restore to a point before you made the changes?
    http://home.bt.com/tech-gadgets/computing/how-t...

If not I would run a Repair Upgrade following these steps:
    https://www.kapilarya.com/how-to-repair-windows...

If you have an older version of Windows you can download the ISO file from here:
    https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-scienc...

Another thing you can do if you haven't yet is manually install Fall Creator Version 1709 by installing Media Creation Tool and choosing to Upgrade Now.

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m...
. This the most stable method to upgrade to the new version (which you need anyway) and will bring you fully up to date with reinstalled Windows that often will solve any other problems you have.

if problems persist with the new version then you can roll it back and hide it with the Hide Updates tool to wait for it to mature more:

    http://www.thewindowsclub.com/rollback-uninstal...

    Hide Updates Tool:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930

But remember that Factory or Upgrade installs are inferior installs which most enthusiasts won't even run because they'd expect endless issues. Consider doing the Clean Install in this link which compiles the best possible install that will stay that way as
long as you stick with the tools and methods given:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

There is also an automated Refresh that reinstalls WIndows while shedding corrupting factory bloatware, saves your files, but doesn't clear the drive to get it cleanest:

    https://www.howtogeek.com/265054/how-to-easily-...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

What user? Why do you think a user is involved. It sounds like your browser is being redirected.

What web browser do you use?

  5. The user is about 100 characters long, it starts with S-1-15-3-1024, etc..... It goes on and on... I have to use Google Chrome because of my websites, I have auto fulfillment and pricing tools that none of the others do. I have looked in browsers and there is nothing there at all?? I also had a friend that knows more about this than I do look, he also couldn't figure out why it cannot be removed.

  6. If you make changes to the Windows Registry, you risk making the operating system unusable.

Some applications like Anti-Virus/Security software Adobe and other apps that "phone home" for updates in the background create a fake user for this purpose, it does not have any permissions to access anything else on your computer. But if you force it to delete, it will probably throw your computer into a tizzy and not boot properly. This is harmless and should be ignored.

  9. I understand that it might cause problems, but what about the redirecting that keeps occurring? Are you saying just ignore it? It doesn't sound like you have any suggestions to remove that, again I haven't had this issue until last week. I am trying to get rid of the problems. So I am looking for solutions. Thanks

After running ADWCleaner download Malwarebytes and scan and quarantine with that too.
