Windows 10: Windows Remote Assistance MSRA on Win 10 - Send email invite won't work

I'm trying to setup Windows Remote Assistance on all my machines. We have a mix of Win 10 and Win 7 eventually win 7s will go away, I say that b/c I if it was all Win 10 now we could just use Quick Assist. Until it is all Win 7, this is what I'd like to use.


On Windows 10, when a user clicks on the short cut to MSRA, chooses to invite someone to help, and selects Use email to send an invitation; it tries to "Start your email" but then fails. Message appears below





We use Outlook for O365 and are fully upgraded as of today. Defaults are set for Outlook as email. Remote assistance is on. I've tried running as admin just in case.

Everything works fine if we create an invitation and attach it manually to the email.

This happens on all windows 10 machines we have.


Any ideas on how to make the email option work?

Trying to setup and test Remote Assistance as simply as possible on mum's computer.

MSRA looks good so far, but the "Use Email To send an Invite" option tries to use OUTLOOK which is not used on the computer. The default email tool is the Windows 10 MAIL tool.

When I lect "Use Email To send an Invite" it asks me to set up a profile....that turns out to to be for outlook.

So how can I change MSRA to use the default Windows 10 Mail tool ?

I know I can get Mum to save the invitation and then email it to me...but that adds another layer of complication for her...trying to keep things very simple.

Remote Assistance with Windows 10

My friend would like my Remote Assistance. We both have Windows 10. He is able to go through the following procedure. ----- 1. Go to Control Panel. --- 2. Open "Systems and Security" ----- 3. Click on "Launch Remote Assistance". ---- 4. Click on "Invite
someone you trust to help you" ---- 5. Click on "Save this invitation as a file". ---- 6. Attach the "Invitation" from the "Documents" folder to the email in "Mail for Windows 10". ---- 7. Send the email to me.

This is where we have the problem. When the email comes to me, I am unable to open it. It doesn't come in the "MSRCINCIDENT" format, so I can't open it in order to insert the password.

The same thing happens if we try to do step 5 as "Use email to send an invitation"

Does anyone have any suggestions????? Thanks

 

Is this how Remote Assistance works?

Hello

If I go to Remote Assistance in Win 10 and then select 'Help someone who has invited you', I can see 'Easy Connect' greyed out. So I choose 'Use an invitation file' and it takes me to my Documents as if it's expecting ME to send an invitation.

It is looking for a RA Invitations (*.msrcIncident) file.

Is that how Remote Assistance works? I was expecting to see an email from a Win 7 user with a password in it.
