Windows 10: Windows reported that no product key was found on your device.

Ever since I got my prebuilt gaming pc for Christmas by Lenovo, ive been trying to activate windows. every time i try to use a method to find the product key, it says it is invalid. The product key channel is retail. any help? Troubleshooting does not work. Every time i troubleshoot it just says windows couldnt be activated

Product Key

Keys are not required for the upgrade process. Windows 10 has a built-in generic key which it uses to install - it acquires the underlying Win7/Win8 activation during the upgrade process and assigns your device ID as a valid Windows 10 activated device. Subsequent installs will thus activate using your device ID. You will not require a key - should you be prompted, select "skip". Activation is automatic thereafter.

I suggest you to Uninstall the license using the following steps.

• Press Windows key + X
• Click Command Prompt (Admin)
• At the command prompt, type: slmgr.vbs -upk
• Press Enter, this will uninstall the product key from the computer.

Further on, install Windows 8.1 activate the copy with the product key on the new machine. Then again upgrade the same to Windows 10 using Window Update or Media Creation Tool.
