Windows resizing automatically to smaller sizes and moving to upper left of screen

In 2017 there is a post with some confirmation that the above problem was solved by one to three specific register changes. That post's author was MichaelAtOz. Five years later and the registry has different entries in the the same registry folders described by MichaelAtOz. Does anyone know, assuming his method worked in 2017, what are the corresponding current registry changes for Windows 10?Many people keep asking why Microsoft is not helpful on this, so no point in rehashing that. There have been several proposed answers to this continuing long-term problem, and based on community responses

    :)

Windows 10 - my windows resize automatically and move to top left of the screen

My surface pro 3 is doing the exact same thing. I updated to windows 10 and now all my windows automatically resize to the upper left side of the screen. I tried to update the graphics driver but it would not install. Tried everything suggested but still
experiencing the same problems. Also having problems with the touch screen behaving erratically when I try to resize windows or move them around. It is very annoying and really hope it gets resolved soon. please fix this Microsoft!

Windows 10 - my windows resize automatically and move to top left of the screen

I think you are experiencing one of the features of Windows. If you click-hold on the top bar of a window, and move it to the top of the monitor viewing area, yes, it will fill the entire screen automatically. If you re-grab it, and bring it down from
the top, it resizes to how large it was before. You can also take it to either side, in which case it fills half the screen - so that you can look at two windows side by side equally without having to manually size them. It also works by going to any corner,
in which case it will resize to 1/4 of the screen. I am using Win 10.

The resizing and moving of all the windows after sleep mode to the upper left quadrant is what is so annoying, and should be fixed.

  4. Windows resizing automatically to smaller sizes and moving to upper left of screen

Application windows resize to upper left corner of monitor

Computer is locally built 2016, Intel Core i5 Skylake processor (6th Gen) 3.2/3.6GH, 80GT/s, 6MB, etc.
Monitor is Dell UltraSharp 38 Curved Monitor - U3818DW

    Last update 2019-02 Windows 10 Version 1809 for x64-based Systems (KB4465065) successfully installed 6/18/2019.

In the last week, many, if not most windows do not open in the size I expect them to open. About a week ago, perhaps after the last Window update, two almost identical computers in our home are behaving the same way. Device manager says monitor is Generic PnP Monitor. Intel HD Graphics Control Panel says Display is Digital Television Dell U3818DW with the correct resolution of 3840x1600. Actual monitor is identified above.

Open windows, applications such as Chrome, Firefox, Word, MS Outlook. May or may not open in a floating window size as I like. I resize as needed, but then I leave computer, monitor goes off after 15 minutes. Computer is set to never sleep. All windows are in upper left corner, about 7x7 in size when I come back. Many times if I compose an email or open an email and reply to it, the window opens in a much smaller size, upper left area.

I think I've become a novice again; I don't know what steps to take to troubleshoot.
