    Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.


    Today began with being unable to update profile information and make purchases through Xbox Console … in Minecraft for instance, the Xbox window would pop up for an instant when I (just as a test) tried to update my gamer tag, but it would remain as a blank pop-up window in front of the Minecraft settings window, then disappear.



    Thought maybe an update was needed. Went to Microsoft store, and there were 23 updates waiting, for some reason. Tried to download one or two, but kept getting the same error code message. Happened whether I was downloading new or and updating old apps.


    Then tiles started blanking in the start menu … they should a download icon instead of the app icon.


    Then I could no longer access settings, or any of the troubleshooters (tried direct clicks through Start menu, tried Cortana, etc.)


    Ultimately, after trying wsreset.exe and a couple of other basic ideas provided by other community members, I decided to do a Reset.


    Did it. No change except now all the apps I had have been removed … and when I try to download them I get the same error code.


    I've reset the Microsoft Store, cleared its cache, tried to restart Windows Update Service, run DISM, and finally ran the System File Checker, which is where I got the message that "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them."


    I'm at the end of my (rudimentary) abilities here and nothing has worked. Any advice/suggestions are greatly appreciated!
