Windows 10: Windows restarted without warning, drained battery

At first, the computer just turned off completely, just showed a black screen when I tried to turn it back on. When I plugged it in, it started the restart process, and when it finally turned on, my battery was at 10%, even though less than two minutes ago, it had been at 100%. And last night, when my laptop was still at 30%, it shut off completely, and I wasn't able to turn it back on until I plugged it in, but it didn't restart. I've had this laptop for 4 years, and only recently I've started to have this problem. Are these two problems related? Why did restarting completely drain my battery? And how do I stop my laptop from restarting without warning?


(I have a Windows Surface Pro 4 and I'm the first and only owner- if that helps)

Battery drains while on sleep mode.


even mine has a slow battery drain, using Win 8.1. Even when powered off, not in sleep or hibernate, but off. It still uses the battery to keep the clock going.
Turn off fast start, as suggested, hibernate over sleep as it uses less power, and if you aren't going to use it for several hours, shut it off.

 

Failing battery or draining issues?

I was suggested to reinstall the drivers. Device Manager didn't expressed any anomalies, but reinstalling the drivers yielded outstanding results. The device now lasted 4 hours and 23 minutes. The last hour and 23 minute was with the device playing music in Media Player Classic with the display always-on at 100% brightness and the volume 80%.
