Windows 10: Windows running slow at random occasions despite low hardware usage

So my laptop as started to run slow without an apparent reason.

It used to run everything smoothly, but starting today, it was extremely slow booting up and using every kind of programs. I checked the task manager multiple times and nothing seems to be the apparent cause of this random "lag spikes". RAM, CPU and both disks were okay.

This isn't the first time this has happened, since some time ago the same thing was happening but the issue seemed to be a windows update, wich i uninstalled and that solved it.

What could be the problem?

  What makes you think that system is running slow? Is it when you are trying to run application?

  Did you install any third party security application?
  

From the screenshot that you have provided, I understood that it’s not the issue with the disk usage. The slowness might be due to the memory usage.

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to run maintenance task and check if it helps.

• 
  Press Windows key + X from the desktop.
  
• 
  Select Control panel and Select System and Security.
  
• 
  Click on Troubleshoot common computer problems under System and maintenance.
  
• 
  Now Run maintenance task under
  System and security.

I would also suggest you to run the System Maintenance troubleshooter.

  Press Windows and X key together and select Control Panel.
  
• 
  Click on Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Click on View all option on the left side of the Windows,
  select System Maintenance.
  
• 
  Click next and follow the
  on-screen instructions.
