Windows 10: Windows search bar crashes and other text bars in the operating system

Recently every time I am trying to use cortana's "type here to search" it immediately freezes and crashes after a few seconds.


Also when I am opening paint3d it crashes on startup


When I am going to windows settings the search bar crashes the windows settings software.


My computer is effectively immobilized and I can't do anything productive.

Search Bar/Cortana

From the description, I understand that you are still receiving the pop up notifications, despite having disabled the search functionality in windows 10.

Steps to disable the Search Bar

• Right click on the task bar.
• Select the "Search" option.
• Select "Disable."

However, if the above steps don't work out, perform the below suggested steps and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

Open a CMD window started as Administrator.

Repair corruption: Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth.

Run this command next: Sfc /scannow

Now run these two commands:

PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

Unable to view status bar

To assist you better, please provide few details.

• 
  Are you able to access other icons on the task bar?
  
• 
  Did you turned off, system icon?
  

This might occur when the system icon is turned off.

I would suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• 
  Type Settings in the search area on the task bar and select
  Settings.
  
• 
  Select the System option.
  
• 
  Select Notification and action center.
  
• 
  Select Turn on/off system icon.
  
• 
  Turn on the icon which you want to view on your status bar.

Sound Bar Needed

Sound bars have there place. Not every wall can handle a full system. They do a pretty good job at separation now. Its just not cheap. Curious what BumbleBee might suggest
