Windows 10: Windows Search doesn't close after opening a folder

When I open a folder from Windows Search by searching for it and pressing Enter, the folder opens in an Explorer window but Windows Search doesn't close itself I have to close it manually by click anywhere on the screen.



If you search for a folder in your computer and then press Enter to open it, you will notice that the Start Menu closes itself after pressing Enter. But it doesn't close on my computer! I'm noticing this for two weeks even after running the latest version of Windows 10 on a laptop with Ryzen 5 2500u, 8 GB DDR4 2400 MHz dual-channel memory, 1 TB Seagate 5400 RPM HDD, Vega 8 GPU.



I have tried checking the C: drive by pressing the "Check" button under "Error Checking" in the "Tools" tab of the VolName C: Properties dialog box and then repaired the drive partition when prompted. But I'm still noticing this.



Note that this happens only with folders. When I open This PC, Explorer, or any other app/program, the Start Menu closes itself. I have checked another machine with the same version of Windows 10 – it was fine. How can I fix this issue? It's too irritating. Note that I'm on the latest version of Windows according to Windows Update.

I`m sorry I had not noticed that the text on the picture was in spanish. It says that windows has replaced some damaged clusters in "name" file and "directory". Then, at the end "an unspecified error occurred (75736e6a726e6c2e 4f6)".

I`ll do it and I`ll be updating this thread when I have the report.

Quick Access not searching Pictures folder

Summary, that last suggestion didn't work.

• I moved the pictures to another folder temporarily.

• Then I tried to remove the Pictures folder with option one at Add or Remove Folders from This PC in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials. Even after rebooting, the Pictures folder remained.
• So I tried using option two. Same thing: reboot >> Pictures folder still there.

• Since there were no troubleshooting steps for this scenario, just for the heck of it, I ran through the restore steps. Copied some pictures into the Pictures folder, ran a Quick Access search and initial problem remains: Searching all of QA doesn't find any files in Pictures folder, running search on just the Pictures folder does. I want to run a global search and find matching files in any/all of the Documents, Music, Videos, and Pictures folders.

That article dates from 2015 and I'm guessing is out of date. I hope it didn't create potential future problems in my registry.

Bottom line: I'm still looking for a fix.

 

Windows 10 Tweaks

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
