Windows 10: Windows Search Highlights Missing

Hello. Windows Search Highlights option is missing from the setting in Windows 11. I have tried some of the suggestions found online but nothing works, the closest I got was that it was either a PC problem or a regional problem. Other PC's at my work place have that setting, so I just don't know what could be wrong.I have a Vivobook Asus Laptop.

Hello,

I've been trying and reading how to make the search highlights appear again but no matter what I tried I couldn't find a solution.





What I tried so far:

• Added copilot as suggested in forums
  
• Added a registry entry for DymanicSearch as suggested in forums
  
• Checked file integrity
  

Any ideas?

You could try to rebuild the Windows Index and then turn the search highlights on and see if the problem is resolved.

• Rebuild the search index:
  

1. Search for cmd in the search box, then run the command prompt as administrator > Type: net stop wsearch and press enter to stop the file indexing service.
   
2. Type: del "%ProgramData%\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows\Windows.edb" and press enter to delete the search index database files.
   
3. Run the net start wsearch command again to restart the Windows 10 Search Indexing Service. If you see the error message stating that the Windows Search service could not be started, simply run the command again. It often takes two or three attempts to succeed.
   

• Turn on the search highlights.
  
  Right-click anywhere on the empty space on your taskbar and extend the Search menu> Check Show search highlights.
